Habitat for Humanity Northumberland

Cathy Borowec has spent more than two decades working to advance safe and affordable housing through Habitat for Humanity. Her Habitat journey began with Habitat Northumberland in 2001, followed by nearly ten years at Habitat for Humanity Canada’s national office, where she worked with and supported local Habitat organizations across the country. She later joined Habitat for Humanity Kingston before returning home to Habitat Northumberland in 2024.

Across these roles, Cathy has developed a deep appreciation for both the national housing landscape and the unique challenges faced by individual communities. Today, her work focuses on building partnerships that help communities move housing solutions forward, including collaboration with Eabametoong First Nation to support community-led approaches to housing that reflect local priorities, culture, and long-term sustainability.

Cathy also serves as Chair of the Northumberland County Housing Corporation, where she continues to advocate for practical solutions that expand access to safe, stable, and affordable homes.
