We are pleased to welcome Max Chipman, Director of Operations, Northumbeland Humane Society to share an overview of the many animal-welfare programs and services offered by the Northumberland Humane Society.  

Meet at the Harvey's in Port Hope service centre. Will be able to bring garbage bags, and coffee. Bring your own reflective outfit and gloves. 

Join us as we celebrate 25 years of service, fellowship, and community impact! This special evening will honour our dedicated members who have been part of our journey from the very beginning.

This morning we welcome Val Deziel, Directof of Restoration Programs, Forests Canada.

Over the past 75 years, our efforts to improve forest health, support ecosystem services, and foster a community connection with nature has grown along with our capacity to create and restore forested landscapes. Now, as Forests Canada, we are taking those decades of knowledge and experience and applying it on a national scale to achieve the greatest possible outcomes for Canada’s forests from coast to coast to coast.

Help us clean up the garden! 

Sign up for one of two shifts. Tuesday June 10th from 9-12pm and/or Saturday June 21st 9-12pm. Garden clean up includes weeding, and mulching of the garden. 

Rob Leek was born and raised in Hamilton.  A McMaster University graduate in Sociology, he owned and operated an executive search business in Hamilton for over 30 years. In 2010, he and his wife Gillian moved to Prince Edward County, where they became innkeepers, operating a Bed & Breakfast known as Loyalist Landing in the village of Bloomfield. 

Rob has been an active Rotarian since 1979, having served as President of both the downtown Hamilton and Picton clubs, as well as District Governor in District 7090.  He and Gillian have hosted over 15 youth exchange students, and have participated in a polio eradication initiative in Togo, Africa.  He has been involved in sweat equity programs in El Salvador, Haiti, Guatemala, and Cambodia.  He was the leader of a Rotary Group Study Exchange team to The Netherlands.

Rob and Gillian have two daughters, living in Toronto and Kingston respectively, and enjoy spending time with 4 grandchildren, 2 in each city.

One of Rob’s interests for many years has been flags. Considering himself to be an amateur vexillologist (a person interested in the subject of flags), he has amassed a collection of over 500.  He enjoys displaying a different flag each day beside the Canadian flag at the front of the B & B, often in celebration of the heritage of guests in residence.  He enjoys speaking to church groups and service clubs about the history of flags around the world, what makes a great flag design, and showing some of his favourites.

This morning we are happy to welcome Alexis Forde and Jennifer Pendergast to share an overview of the Youth Wellness Hub Northumberland.  They will describe the establishment of the new Youth Wellness Hub in Northumberland and provide information about the available social, community and clinical services that will be available to youth ages 12-25 across Northumberland. 

Welcome to the Northumberland Sunrise July POD social event of the summer. We will be gathering at the Port Hope Golf & Country Club in their new restaurant patio overlooking the course.You can order anything you wish off the menu and everyone will pay their own bill. Bring your spouse, partner or friends  Katie and Amy will  be leading a short exercise so that all Rotarians can get to know each other even better!

Please register yourself and who will be joining you before July 17th so that we can advise the restaurant how many to expect. If you are unable to attend please indicate on the registration that you decline to attend.

June POD sweat equity activity organized by Captain John Kelly. We would like to gauge interest to see if we could possibly fill the 29 seat mega bike for one of the timeslots. Starts at 10am and each group gets an hour long slot to ride for approximately 45 mins or 3km around Cobourg.
